Sports clubs
Like most parents I got involved when my eldest son started playing, I offered my services even though it was 20+ years since I played myself but with every organisation it is voluntary, no previous experience required and no offer is turned down. Over the years I could see the poor movement with some children and wanted to do something to help. As a parent we always want what’s best for our children and that led me to start looking and thinking outside the box and not just follow what the previous session was or what the previous coach did.
During Covid is when I suppose my love for movement really began, as you remember we could no longer meet up or get out on the field so I started researching what and how other sports conducted their sessions from soccer to American football, rugby, basketball. At the end of the day the best movers are generally up there with the best players but why? Movement, agility, balance, coordination?
LTAD model
The program I offer clubs is aimed and delivered as part of the LTAD model
People look at current rugby/soccer/GAA players and their physique but you cannot build a player like that without first laying the correct foundations i.e. fundamental movements (Locomotor, Stability, Manipulative) in the form of agility, balance, coordination and from there you can start building a better more solid structure.
What Pauls ABCs offers is to come to your club and talk with the coaches and board and develop a plan that will not only help and support youth player development but also be of huge benefit to the future of the adult club.
‘Paul is an exceptional coach who worked with our U12, U14, and U16 ladies football teams this year. His sessions were informative, engaging, and tailored to the players’ needs. Paul’s ability to break down complex drills and stretches into simple, actionable steps is impressive, and his explanations of why they’re important are clear and concise. But what really sets him apart is his rapport with the players, he makes learning fun and enjoyable! We’re already looking forward to our next sessions with him, which will include training for our coaches on warm-up drills. We highly recommend Paul to any club looking for expert coaching and training.’
